About
They Will Come is a cinematic steampunk puzzle adventure, directed by Jeff Troutman - an award-winning Art Director, Game Designer and games industry veteran. This is his vision of a premium steampunk horror built from relentless ambition and the creative freedom that only an independent studio can achieve.
THE ENDEAVOR, 1897
The year is 1897, but not the one you know.
In this alternate version of history, steam and steel pushed humanity further than coal. The pinnacle of that technology is The Endeavor, an enormous airship that serves as the manufacturing site for hundreds of the most powerful automatons ever built. It’s also home to an eleven-year-old boy named Benjamin and his family of inventors.
Then the wretched ones arrived. Crow-masked and ruthless, they took the ship, took the crew and took Benjamin’s family. They demanded surrender, or people would die.
Benjamin did not surrender. He hid. Now he sets out to save his family, armed with only a slingshot and the knowledge that somewhere out there in the hangar below is Talus, a robot that can help him turn the tide against the enemy, as long as he can reach it in time.
OVER-THE-SHOULDER HORROR ADVENTURE
Control Benjamin in a close, cinematic, over-the-shoulder perspective, letting you feel all the tension of each encounter, feel the threat of every shadow and read the environment to plan your next move.
Every corridor has a purpose. Every sound has a source. The Endeavor is a vast, continuous world to explore, filled with hangers, catwalks, maintenance tunnels, observation decks and more. Every part of it is hostile territory.
HUNTED BUT NOT HELPLESS
Sneak through shadows, time your movements and solve environmental puzzles using whatever you can find, from small automatons known as Embots to the architecture of the ship itself.
The crow-masked wretched ones patrol every corridor. You’ll need to stay hidden in order to survive. If you are seen, run. If you are cornered, fight. If you are taken, it’s the end for everyone.
YOUR ONLY ALLIES ARE MECHANICAL
Talus is enormous, powerful, and dormant. Drained of his energy cells, he cannot move without you. His hollow chest offers a place to hide when danger comes too close and his energy cells can be recharged by seeking out Embots throughout the ship. When Talus is fully charged, the hunted can become the hunter.
The Embots are small, scattered across the airship in the dark. Free them, and they become your miniature army, stunning enemies, activating machinery, solving problems you alone cannot.
You and the machines will have to rely on each other completely. There is no other way out.
